Twisters 2, North Adams 0
NORTH ADAMS, Mass., June 8  -- The Twisters spoiled the NECBL debut of the Steeplecats with a 2-0 victory. Pitcher Jason Jones (Liberty) quieted the Steeplecats by allowing only three hits and striking out 10 before a standing-room only crowd of 2,042 at Joe Wolfe Field.
Centerfielder Jordan Czarnecki's RBI ground out scored Blake Justice in the top of the fourth inning while Brandon Robert's RBI single added an insurance run in the sixth inning.

North Adams left runners in scoring position in four of nine innings. "We were just outmatched by the kid on the mound," said SteepleCats head coach Kevin Winterrowd told the Berkshire Eagle. "We could have made a few adjustments, but he just outmatched us." The Twisters improve to 3-3 in season-opening contests with their first opening day victory since 1999.
Exhibition: Wareham 3, Twisters 2
TORRINGTON, June 9 -- Five Twister hurlers pitched eight scoreless innings before defending Cape Cod League champion Wareham rallied for three runs in the ninth inning in an exhibition at Fuessenich Park. Brian Mattoon, David Talamantez, Josh Gray, Joseph Shortt and Shane Kelley allowed just two hits while striking out six Gatemen over the first eight innings.

The Twisters took a 2-0 lead off Jeremy Sowers, a first round draft pick in the 2001 Major League baseball draft from Vanderbilt. In the first inning, Blake Justice, Lee Lipschutz and Jordan Czarniecki (2-for-4), Torrington's first three batters, each hit sharp singles, with Czarniecki's grounder through the right side scoring Justice for the 1-0 lead. Two innings later, Czarniecki  lined a two-out double near the right centerfield fence and scored when Justin McClain followed with a double down the right field line.

Ladd Hall, who played a fine third base for eight innings, came in to pitch the ninth. Hall, an infielder/pitcher, gave up two singles and a wild pitch before hitting a batter, giving up a walk and a sacrifice fly. Brian Shapiro's RBI single to centerfield scored the game-winner.
