Milford 9, Jewett CIty 4
WATERFORD, July 27 -- For the second straight game, Milford International erased a 3-run deficit to beat Jewett City, 9-4, on Monday and win the Major Division state championship. Milford's Jenna Zacarelli had a 2-RBI single and Page Raucci had a 2-RBI double.

Jewett City (11-2) led 4-1 after three innings but Milford used timely hitting and took advantage of three errors and several wild pitches to score six runs in the fourth inning. Milford relief pitcher Jenna Zacarelli didn’t allow a run and struck out three in 3.1 innings. "These are unbelievable girls," Milford manager Colleen Zacarelli told the New Haven Register. "We used good hitting and good base-running sense to come from behind two days in a row.

Most of the Milford team (12-1) won the state title in the Minor Division a year ago. For Jewett City, Kirsten Drobiak had an RBI single and Kaitlyn Niles had an RBI double.

Milford 4, Jewett City 1 (9)
WATERFORD, July 26 -- Milford’s Danielle Kemp singled, stole second base and scored on a pair of passed balls in the ninth inning to lift Milford to a 4-3 win over Jewett City. Milford threatened in the seventh when Kemp singled, moved to second on a sacrifice bunt and took third when no one covered third base. Jamie Healy bunted for a single but Jewett City P Kirsten Drobiak got a strikeout and fly out to end the inning.

Milford had a runner on third base in the eighth but Drobiak got Milford to ground out to her to end the inning.

Game 2: Brooklyn/Killingly 13, Meriden 3

Brooklyn/Killingly 13, Meriden 3
KILLINGLY, Aug. 1 – Brooklyn/Killingly won its second straight state championship with a dominating victory over Meriden. “This is awesome,” Killingly-Brooklyn manager Jack Weaver told the Norwich Bulletin. “You don't see it (a repeat state championship) at this level too often. I have a great group of kids.” The last team to defend its title was North Haven in 2002-03.

Brooklyn/Killingly OF Wyatt Gibeault told the Bulletin, “I'm enjoying this even more. I felt more pressure this year — seeing how we won it last year and everyone expected us to win it again — I didn’t know if we would make it, but I’m so glad we did.”

Winning pitcher Kevin Bonitz didn’t give up a hit until the sixth inning. He went the distance, striking out eight and walking four. Meriden took a 1-0 lead in the first thanks to tweo errors and a wild pitch. Brooklyn/Killingly tied the game in the third when pinch runner Chris Nelson went from first to third on a sacrifice bunt and scored on a throwing error. Bonitz singled, stole second, took third on a wild pitch and scored on a sacrifice fly. Brooklyn added another run in the fourth on a RBI double from Connor Flanagan. In a 10-run sixth inning, Gibeault had a three-RBI double.

Brooklyn/Killingly 3, Meriden 2
SOUTHINGTON, July 30 -- Pitcher Jack Weaver went the disance, giving up just four hits and striking out five to lead Brooklyn/Killingly to a victory in game one. Weaver also had an RBI to help his cause. Brooklyn/Killingly scored twice in the bottom of the seventh to earn the win.
