SHELTON, July 16 – In a little over an hour, Seymour played flawlessly to beat Pawcatuck/North Stonington, 3-1 to win the state championship. Seymour prevailed in the best-of-3 series, 2-1 and captured its first state title since 2001. Seymour P Jennifer Geffert scattered five hits, walked one and struck out six to earn the win. At one point, she retired 10 batters in a row. A two-out throwing error in the first inning helped Seymour grab a 2-0 lead. Pawcatuck/NS (10-3) cut the lead to one in the third on Briana Beverly’s RBI single. Seymour added a third run in the fifth when Rebecca Johnson singled, stole second, took third on a wild pitch and scored on a ground ball out.

SHELTON, July 15 – Pawcatuck/North Stonington scored four runs in the second inning on one hit as Seymour had five players make six errors to lift Pawcatuck/NS to a 5-2 win. The victory ties the best-of-3 state championship series at 1-1. Pitchers Kendra Perez and Trinity Lennon scattered seven hits to lead Pawcatuck/NS, who had just three hits. Gabby Dellacono, Trinity Lennon and Lainnie Connor had RBI singles for the winners.

SHELTON, July 14 -- Seymour took advantage of four errors to win game 1 of the best-of-3 championship series. Seymour took an early 2-0 in the first inning and built upon it.

SOUTHINGTON, July 28 -- Westport hit four home runs and P Harry Azadian struck out 11 batters as Westport (12-0) won its first-ever Little League state championship. Matt Brown had a two-run double and a HR for the winners. Chad Knight and Chris Drball also hit HR.

SOUTHINGTON, July 27 -- Chris Drbal's two-RBI double and Max Popken's two-run home run helped Westport erase a two-run deficit to score 8 unanswered runs and win game 1 of the state finals. P Chad Knight struck out 14 for Westport.

ORANGE, July 27 -- P Matt Curtis hit three batters but he allowed just two hits and struck out seven as Tolland won its second straight state championship. Tolland (4-0, 7-0) gave up just 4 runs in the tournament. OF Kyle Boutot had a two-RBI double in Tolland's five-run sixth inning while 1B Sean Kelly had 3 singles.
